Billie Query is a single mom of three small children; Jaden, Kailey and Gavin. Billie is employed at Wal-Mart and has worked their for the past seven years. Billie applied for a Habitat house because her current residence is to small for her family size and she wanted a house to call her own.
The Query family enjoys watching movies, playing outside and spending time together. The children are excited to finally have a house and a yard to play in and are hoping to get a pet when they can finally move in.
This was one of the homes on 3rd St SW in Mason City originally owned by Mercy Medical Center North Iowa. The homes were put up for sale for $1 in the agreement the new owners would then move the house to another location, making room for Mercy to start construction on a new parking lot.The house was moved by Ron Holland Housemoving, Inc to 836 6th St SW in Mason City.
Employees of RSM McGladrey Inc. and McGladrey & Pullen LLP, providers of assurance, tax and consulting services under the McGladrey brand, teamed up across the country to make a difference in their communities. On October 21, 2010 Habitat for Humanity had a group of 10 volunteers came and helped clean and fix up the Mercy house that was moved and will soon be a home for Billie Query and her family. We are thankful to this volunteer group for helping in updating the house for the Query family.
Habitat has now officially made homeownership possible for our 42nd local family! Last night we welcomed Billie Query and her three children to their new Habitat for Humanity home at 6th St SW in Mason City. This house was actually moved from Mercy during their ER expansion project, and was made possible through a generous bequest from Bob & Sandy Krieger. We wish to thank all the volunteer groups who helped out on this project- RSM McGladrey, Super Target, Mason City Girls Varsity Basketball Team, Principal Financial Group, and Ellsworth Community College. Thank you also to everyone who came last night to participate in the celebration, including Terry Wisner who shared his heartfelt thoughts and memories of the Krieger’s. We wish Billie and her family many happy years in their new beautiful home!
