Janine Schrieber is a single mother of three children, Miranda, Madison and Tyler. Janine is originally from Lake Mills, IA, and moved to the Des Moines area in 1994. In January 2010, the Schrieber family moved to Mason City to be closer to family. Janine is employed with the Child Support Recovery in Mason City. Last summer the family spent a lot of time at the pool, city parks, Clear Lake beach and enjoyed picnics. Tyler is in kindergarten and loves sports and was involved in T-ball, football and basketball. Madison is a 5th grader and plays the violin for her middle school and loves to make crafts. Miranda is in the 8th grade and plays volleyball, and volunteers for the Parks & Rec center. The family loves to go to the Humane Society and play with the animals. During the winter time the family plays a variety of board games together (Uno Spin is the favorite), baking, watching movies, going to the YMCA, and experiencing new outdoor activities.
Habitat for Humanity NCI welcomed Janine Schrieber and her children as our newest Partner Family with another Groundbreaking Celebration on May 17th. Fortunately, it was a beautiful sunny day and we had a great turnout from the local community, our sponsors Thrivent Financial, and some government officials- Sharon Steckman, and Amanda Ragan. We are very excited to work with Thrivent Financial again on a worthwhile project, as this will be our 6th house build together! We are also excited to have Trinity Lutheran Church in partnership with us. The Trinity Lutheran Anniversary Committee has expressed a challenge for their church in light of their 140th anniversary year to help raise $14,000 and contribute 1,400 volunteer hours. Wow- what a great challenge! We wish all the best to Janine Schrieber and her family as the building of her new home begins.
Janine Schrieber and her three kids received the keys to their new Thrivent/Habitat home on February 21st. Her house was made possible through a sponsorship from Thrivent for Lutherans, their 6th sponsored home in this region. We want to thank all who came out to help build the home for the Schrieber family. Thanks to Thrivent, Trinity Lutheran Church & all the dedicated volunteers. Habitat also wishes to thank Steve Meyer as the 1st annual recipient of our "Golden Hammer Award." This award is presented to those who have volunteered many hours to Habitat on house construction for its future homeowners. This was Steve Meyer's 5th home build for Habitat as the Thrivent Project Leader. We cannot thank him enough for his countless hours, as well as all of those who were involved in making this a joyful event for the Schrieber family.
