This Thrivent Builds home was built in Mason City for a family of three. Trenda and her two daughters, Harley and Kayla, currently live in Mason City and were in search of a decent house big enough for the three of them that Trenda could afford and they could call home. She turned to Habitat for help and is now calling the 2009 Thrivent Builds project home. Trenda is an employee at Wal-Mart in Mason City. When she is not working she spends her time with her two girls. Harley and Kayla enjoy spending time with their friends, attending school at Hoover Elementary, and participating in Girl Scouts, softball, and teeball.

Worldwide, Thrivent Financial for Lutherans® has made a $125 million commitment to Habitat for Humanity® International—joining forces in an unprecedented alliance to not only build walls, but to build communities as well.  Locally, three other families in Mason City have become homeowners through this program. Thrivent Financial contributed two-thirds of the funding to construct this home, and the remaining funds were raised by the Cerro Gordo County Chapter of Thrivent, area Lutheran churches, and Habitat for Humanity North Central Iowa.
