Lucreita Warren and her three sons Jaden, Braden and Bryson will be able to move into their new house during the Christmas season. "This is a wonderful opportunity for our family to finally have a safe and energy-efficient home." " I'm so looking forward to moving in for the holidays and making this our new home for many years to come." Fire destoryed the family's previous home. The home was made possible through sponsorships from the Thrivent Financial for Lutherans organization, the Eaton Foundation and the city of Belmond. Groundbreaking was held in May on a lot donated by Sharon and the late Larry Kinseth. Volunteers, mostly from Wright County Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, Eaton Corporation of Belmond and Habitat worked through June's heavy rain to get the home started. Area volunteers worked to finish the home in time for the holidays.

Bob and Linda O'Dell and their daughter Valarie and her children Brooklyn, Audrey and Jakob have waited since the flood of June 2008 to move from their damaged home in Mason City. The O'Dells will leave the house they lived in for nearly 25 years. When the flood happened in 2008, water filled their basement and crept to the ground floor. The waiting and coping did bring them closer as a family. "Everything changes," Bob O'Dell said. "When I get sad and down in the dumps, I've learned my wife will encourage me. She will say, "At least we are together as a family." The O'Dells are together as a family and happy to be in Forest City. Residents of the town volunteered to help move the O'Dells and others have helped during the wait and transition to the new house. "Forest City just seems safer for my grandkids...," Bob O'Dell said. 'Everybody's been so warm and nice."
